WWE Update: Alleged Orton-Kelly Confrontation, Motor City Machine Guns to Debut, Raw on Netflix
Alleged Orton-Machine Gun Kelly Confrontation Update
In the aftermath of Machine Gun Kelly’s appearance at SummerSlam with Logan Paul, rumors emerged of a confrontation with Randy Orton before the show. Kelly claimed on the Impaulsive podcast that Orton insulted him unprovoked. However, sources close to WWE and Fightful Select report that no footage exists and most individuals within the company deny any knowledge of the incident. Orton has also denied the allegations.
One theory suggests that Kelly may be fabricating the story to garner attention and secure another appearance in WWE. He has a history of collaborations with WWE, including a memorable powerbomb by Kevin Owens in 2015.
Motor City Machine Guns to Debut on NXT
NXT is set to bolster its tag team division with the impending debut of the Motor City Machine Guns (Chris Sabin and Alex Shelley). The report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter suggests they could appear “imminently.” Sabin and Shelley’s last TNA appearance was in April, and Shelley had a previous NXT cameo in 2020.
WWE is ramping up its NXT roster ahead of its move to the CW network in October. Other notable additions include CM Punk, Indiana Pacers star Tyrese Haliburton, and potential appearances by Jade Cargill and Bianca Belair.
Raw to Feature Commercials on Netflix
As Raw prepares to stream exclusively on Netflix from January 6, details about the show’s format have emerged. The Wrestling Observer Newsletter reports that Raw will indeed include commercials, as Netflix is incorporating advertising into its programming while maintaining flexibility in ad-break durations.
Netflix’s ad-supported tier, introduced in November 2022, has prompted this move as the streamer expands into live content, including NFL games. It is unclear if ad-free tier subscribers will be subjected to commercials.
WWE and Netflix have agreed to a potentially lucrative deal worth up to $5 billion over 10 years.
