Una argentina critica la carne y las tapas españolas: “La carne roja aquí es horrible”

An Argentine’s Perspective on Spanish Cuisine: A Critique of Meat and Tapas

In a recent TikTok video that has garnered over 15,000 views, an Argentine woman living in Barcelona, @bernifitt, shared her blunt critique of Spanish meat and the concept of tapas.

“The Red Meat is Horrible, the Chicken Is Okay”

The Argentine TikToker did not hold back in expressing her distaste for Spanish red meat. “The red meat here is horrible,” she exclaimed. “The chicken is more or less okay.”

“I Don’t Like Tapas”

She also took aim at the traditional Spanish culinary practice of serving small portions of food known as tapas. “Another thing I don’t like is tapas,” she said. “I prefer a good plate with a decent portion of chicken, fish, or meat with a side dish.”

Praise for Seafood

Despite her criticism of meat and tapas, the TikToker praised the seafood offerings of Spain. “If you don’t like fish and seafood, you won’t like Spain,” she acknowledged. “That’s the best thing they have.”

Convenience and Affordability

She also noted the practicality and affordability of Spanish cuisine. “One thing I do like and that surprised me is that the Spanish are very practical with food,” she said. “What’s also good is that everything’s very practical in Spain. You can buy bags of fajita mix, chicken and rice mix… throw it in a pan frozen and it’s ready in five minutes.

“They’re very practical here, and the food is very cheap and good quality,” she concluded, “except for the meat, which I don’t think is good.”
