UFC star Paddy Pimblett makes his feelings clear on Jake Paul fighting Mike Perry

Paddy Pimblett Gains Respect for Jake Paul Ahead of Perry Fight

Paddy Pimblett has acknowledged Jake Paul’s decision to face Mike Perry, earning the YouTuber-turned-boxer a “little bit of respect” from the UFC star.

Prior to Perry’s inclusion in the bout, Paul faced criticism for fighting opponents who were perceived as less skilled or over the age of 40. Pimblett, however, believes that Perry presents a genuine challenge for Paul.

Pimblett’s Perspective

Pimblett stated that he had previously doubted Paul’s willingness to fight someone as capable as Perry, considering his past opponents like Anderson Silva and Tyron Woodley.

“You know what? Give Jake Paul his dues for that one,” Pimblett said. “I didn’t think he’d fight someone like Mike Perry. He’s fought a load of f**king crabs.”

Despite his newfound respect for Paul, Pimblett emphasized that he would be willing to fight the YouTuber if offered a lucrative contract.

“If Jake Paul sends a contract over for a couple of million dollars and wanted to fight me, let’s do it,” Pimblett added. “I think that’s what half ruined Conor’s career, the fact that he went and boxed Floyd Mayweather and took so long out of MMA and focused on his boxing, it hindered his MMA career.”

Pimblett cautioned that prioritizing boxing over MMA could negatively impact an athlete’s career, but understood the financial incentives involved.

“Conor could be on that Mount Rushmore, he really could, if he would have stayed fighting in the UFC,” Pimblett said. “But there’s a difference from getting a couple of million in the UFC and getting over a hundred million fighting Mayweather. Massive difference lad, you’re doing it.”

Implications for the Fight

Pimblett’s admiration for Paul’s choice of opponent adds an intriguing layer to the upcoming fight against Perry. Paul, who has been eager to prove his legitimacy in the boxing world, will now face a formidable challenge against a skilled and experienced opponent.

Whether Paul can overcome Perry and continue his undefeated streak remains to be seen. However, Pimblett’s endorsement suggests that the YouTuber may have earned a greater level of respect within the combat sports community.
