Trevor Noah to Host Weekly Podcast on Spotify
Trevor Noah, the renowned comedian and former host of The Daily Show, is set to launch an original, weekly podcast exclusively on Spotify. The highly anticipated show will delve into the “hottest and most captivating topics of the moment,” much like Noah’s previous television segments.
Spotify announced the upcoming podcast during the Cannes Lions Festival of Creativity, where Noah engaged in a compelling conversation with Spotify CEO Daniel Ek about the future of storytelling. Noah expressed his excitement about joining Spotify and engaging in meaningful discussions with remarkable individuals.
“It’s really exciting to be joining Spotify on a fun new adventure where we’ll engage in interesting and meaningful conversations with some of the world’s most fascinating people,” said Noah. “We’ll also probably fix every single issue humankind has ever faced so you definitely want to join us for every episode”.
Julie McNamara, Spotify’s VP of Head of Global Podcast Studios, praised Noah’s exceptional talent and charisma.
“We are excited to collaborate with Trevor to create an original podcast that seamlessly combines his unique humor, insightful commentary, and consummate interview skills on a global scale,” said McNamara.
Spotify’s podcasting division has recently undergone significant changes. In June, the company laid off around 200 employees from its podcast-focused workforce. Additionally, Spotify terminated its contract with Meghan Markle and Prince Harry, ending a high-profile deal between the parties.
Despite these changes, Spotify remains committed to investing in high-quality podcast content. Noah’s podcast is expected to become a flagship show for the platform, attracting a vast audience eager to hear his unique perspectives on current events and social issues.
