Racionamiento de agua en Bogotá el 12 de agosto: los barrios que no tendrán servicio en la zona 4

Rationing Water in Bogotá: Everything You Need to Know

Despite the increase in the capacity of the reservoirs that supply Bogotá with water, the authorities have announced the extension of the water rationing until October 2024, in order to reach 75% of the capacity before the drought expected for the first three months of 2025.

August 12 Rationing

Therefore, and following the schedule shared by the district, on Monday, August 12, the water cut is scheduled for zone 4 of the city, which corresponds to the localities of Bosa with 397 neighborhoods, Ciudad Bolívar with 113 neighborhoods, Kennedy with 45 neighborhoods, Puente Aranda with 6 neighborhoods, and Tunjuelito with 32 neighborhoods.

The water service cut will begin at 8:00 a.m. on Monday and will last until 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13th. However, not all neighborhoods will recover the service simultaneously, because according to previous experiences of rationing, which began on April 11, some neighborhoods take longer to receive the water supply again due to their distance from the distribution valves.

How to Check the Bogotá Rationing Map

This is the interactive map of Infobae Colombia to know how the Bogotá zones are distributed for water rationing, although the Mayor’s Office of the capital shared an interactive map where citizens can check their cut day.

In collaboration with the Water and Sewer Company of Bogotá (EAAB), the District Cadastre, and the Spatial Data Infrastructure (IDECA), the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá has made available to citizens a digital tool that allows them to check the water rationing days in the capital during the month of August.

According to the statement issued by the mayor’s office, the inhabitants of Bogotá can access this information free of charge and quickly through the Mapas Bogotá platform, available on the Bogotá Portal.

The consultation about the water restriction shifts is simple. To use the interactive map, citizens must enter the Bogotá portal website and select the corresponding icon to enter their home address. Once the address has been entered and confirmed by the system, click on the ‘Restriction Scheme’ box where the specific information about the water rationing shift that applies to that address will appear.

According to the information shared by the Mayor’s Office of Bogotá, this system makes it easier for users to plan their consumption and contribute to saving water; even the mechanism established by the Eaab aims to manage and distribute water resources efficiently, especially important during the month of August when the shifts apply every other day.

In addition, on the Bogotá Portal, you can not only consult information related to water rationing in the capital but also in neighboring municipalities, which allows citizens to have a broader view and better plan their daily activities based on water availability.
