Gareth Barry Returns to Football at 43
Premier League Legend Signs for Non-League Club
Gareth Barry, the Premier League’s all-time appearance record holder, has made a shock return to football at the age of 43.
The former England international, who retired in 2020 after a stint with West Brom, has signed for Hurstpierpoint FC, a non-league team in the eleventh tier of English football.
The move came about due to Barry’s friendship with Hurstpierpoint manager Michael Standing, who signed for Aston Villa from Brighton on the same day as Barry and later became his agent.
Barry’s Impressive Career
Barry spent 11 years at Villa, captaining the club and making 441 appearances before completing a £12 million transfer to Manchester City.
He played 175 times for City over four seasons, winning both the FA Cup and the Premier League under Roberto Mancini.
Capped 53 times for England following his debut in 2000, Barry also turned out for Everton before finishing up with West Brom in the Championship.

Hurstpierpoint FC are excited to have Barry on board and believe his experience and quality will be a major asset to the team.
