Sensation in Paris: Nils Ehlers und Clemens Wickler im Beach-Volleyball-Finale
Unsere Strandhelden ziehen mit einer starken Leistung ins Olympiafinale ein und machen die Medaille damit sicher.
Einen historischen Erfolg haben Nils Ehlers (30) und Clemens Wickler (29) bei den Olympischen Spielen in Paris gefeiert. Das deutsche Beachvolleyball-Duo zog durch einen dramatischen 2:1 (21:13, 17:21, 15:13)-Halbfinalsieg gegen die topgesetzten Norweger Anders Mol und Christian Sorum ins Endspiel ein.
Damit steht die erste deutsche Medaille im Beachvolleyball seit dem Olympiasieg von Jonas Reckermann und Julius Brink 2012 in London fest. Im Finale am Samstagabend (22 Uhr) kämpfen Ehlers und Wickler um Gold.
Unsere Beach-Boys starteten stark in die Partie und bauten schnell eine Führung auf. Mit knallharten Aufschlägen von Wickler, hatte Ehlers im Block einfaches Spiel. Die Deutschen gewannen den ersten Satz deutlich mit 21:13.
Im zweiten Satz verschliefen Ehlers und Wickler den Start, kamen aber dank einer starken Wickler-Aktion schnell zurück. Die Norweger erhöhten jedoch auf 8:14, sodass der Satz mit 17:21 verloren ging. Im entscheidenden Tiebreak setzten sich unsere Jungs dank weiterer Ehlers-Blocks mit 15:13 durch.
Ehlers und Wickler sanken nach dem Sieg zu Boden und konnten ihr Glück kaum fassen. Sie haben einen historischen Erfolg für den deutschen Beachvolleyballsport errungen.
