Father-and-son team of Eugene and Dan Levy to co-host the Emmys

Eugene Levy and Dan Levy to Make Emmy History as First Father-Son Hosts

New York, USA – Eugene Levy and Dan Levy will become the first father and son duo to co-host the Emmy Awards, the prestigious television industry awards, on September 15th in Los Angeles. The announcement was made by the Television Academy Chair, Cris Abrego on Friday.

A Triumphant Emmys Night in 2020

In 2020, the Levy family had a remarkable night at the Emmys. “Schitt’s Creek”, the beloved comedy series they created, garnered several awards, including Outstanding Comedy Series, Outstanding Comedy Actor for Eugene Levy, and Outstanding Supporting Comedy Actor for Dan Levy.

A Comedy Dynasty

Dan Levy also won Emmys for writing and directing, while both father and son shared the Outstanding Comedy Series award as executive producers. These accolades solidified the Levy family’s position as comedy royalty.

Breaking New Ground at the Emmys

As co-hosts of the 2023 Emmys, the Levys will make history as the first father-son duo to host the event. Since 2018, when Colin Jost and Michael Che from “Saturday Night Live” shared hosting duties, this is the first time a duo will preside over the ceremony.

A Double Role for Eugene Levy

Eugene Levy’s involvement in the Emmys extends beyond co-hosting. He has also been nominated for his Apple TV+ series, “The Reluctant Traveler With Eugene Levy.” The show follows his unique and often humorous adventures as he explores various exotic destinations.

Upon receiving the hosting invitation, the Levys expressed their excitement in a statement: “We are thrilled to be able to raise a glass to this extraordinary season of television.” They humorously added that the prospect of hosting the Emmys in a real theatre, after their previous remote acceptance from a “literal quarantine tent,” was a major incentive.

The 76th Emmy Awards will broadcast live on ABC on September 15th and will stream on Hulu the following day. This historic event promises to be a memorable celebration of the year’s most outstanding television achievements.
