Cebolinha passa por cirurgia após sofrer rompimento no tendão de Aquiles

Cebolinha of Flamengo Suffers Achilles Tendon Rupture, Undergoes Surgery

Flamengo’s star forward Everton Cebolinha has undergone surgery to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon in his left ankle, effectively ending his season.

Injury and Recovery

Cebolinha sustained the injury during Flamengo’s match against Palmeiras on August 14, 2024. He was forced to leave the field just 11 minutes into the game after suffering the injury without any contact with an opponent.

The club has not provided a specific timeline for Cebolinha’s return, but this type of injury typically requires four to six months of rehabilitation.

Impact on Flamengo

Cebolinha has been a key player for Flamengo this season. His absence will be a significant blow to the team, particularly in their pursuit of the Copa Libertadores title.

Luiz Araújo is expected to take over Cebolinha’s role as the team’s starting left winger, at least in the Libertadores. He has been Tite’s preferred replacement for Cebolinha when the latter has been sidelined by injuries this year.

Surgery and Post-Operative Care

Cebolinha underwent surgery at the CopaStar Hospital in Rio de Janeiro. The procedure was performed by Dr. Verônica Vianna, assisted by Márcio Tannure, Flamengo’s manager of health and high performance.

The club has not disclosed any further details about the surgery or Cebolinha’s post-operative care.
