Bobby Flay Says Daughter Sophie ‘Threatens’ to Move Back Home but ‘We’re Definitely Not Doing That’

Bobby Flay Loves His Daughter, But He’s Not Eager to Be Her Roommate

Celebrity chef Bobby Flay, 59, has a close relationship with his daughter Sophie, 28. But while he loves her dearly, he’s not exactly thrilled about the prospect of her moving back home.

On the first episode of the All on the Table with Katie Lee Biegel podcast, Flay revealed that Sophie often jokes about moving back in with him “just to see” how he would react.

“She thinks it’s still her room, but she’s wrong,” Flay said with a laugh.

Host Katie Lee Biegel then inquired about his comment, saying, “Well, what’s it gonna be if it’s not her room? You have a lot of rooms in that apartment.”

“It’s gonna be another… I dunno. I just figured at 28 she has to, like, she has to relinquish her bedroom. Don’t you think?” Flay replied.

Lee Biegel said that she hopes her daughter, Iris, 3, still wants her bedroom when she’s that age.

“Sophie always threatens that she’s gonna move back in with me just to see how I react,” Flay said lightheartedly. “We’re not doing that. I mean, no, no, no, no. No, we’re definitely not doing that.”

“But, you know, obviously, she’s always welcome,” the loving father added.

The father-daughter duo share a close relationship. They recently visited Paris together for the 2024 Summer Olympics. During the trip, Sophie posted photos on Instagram of her and her father dressed up for a trip to the iconic Louvre.

Back in May, the chef opened up to PEOPLE about taking his daughter to the sporting event. “I got invited to Paris and Sophie was like, ‘Yeah, I’m your plus one,’ ” he said. “She’s worked the Olympics. When she was an intern at USC she worked for NBC, so she went to South Korea and she went to Rio. She considers herself my Olympic expert.”
